Tropical Storm Idalia is expected to rapidly intensify due to hot water temps in the Gulf of Mexico and is expected to make landfall in the Big Bend area maybe near Cedar Key as a possible dangerous Category 3.
This means winds will top 111 mph, and there will be life threatening storm surge.
A聽hurricane warning is in effect聽for the west coast of Florida, extending from the eastern part of the Panhandle and encompassing Tampa Bay.
According to the National Hurricane Center, parts of South Florida will experience heavy rains and wind gusts due to the deep tropical moisture on the east side of this storm starting later tonight.
